I created this blog because I have always been very intrigued by past dancers and how we would not have dance how it is today without them. I chose these three ballet dancers, Jules Perrot, Carlotta Grisi, and Marie Taglioni, because they were very prominent in the 19th century and changed the world of dance as we know it today. We can take from each of these dancer's background and apply it to further our knowledge and perspective on dance.
Perrot, Grisi, and Taglioni all relate to one another. Perrot and Grisi fell in love and had a child, while she inspired Perrot greatly to create some of the most prominent ballets today, such as, Giselle. Furthermore, Grisi and Taglioni danced with eachother, and Taglioni also danced with Perrot, but was short-lived because of her jealousy of his dancing. These three dancers have contributed an abundance amount of dedication to dance and the dance world today has them to thank for their contributions.
